Last chance to enter for the Traveling Stash..

See original post here.

Can I tell you something, after I posted the photo of the Skateboard quilt - I didn't like how one of the rows looked - so you know what i did??  Your probably saying oh no she didn't - my family said no don't it's fine that way it is - but I had to.  I took the row apart and re-arranged the blocks and guess what - I ended up putting them back just the way they were!  Oh well at least I know now!
Have you ever done that?

Off to take the dogs for a walk.

Enjoy you day,

P.S. Come follow me on Facebook.

I love half square triangles, there are so many endless possibilities.

Here's how I make them,
I know there are other ways but this is my favorite and I never got the hang of thangles.

Finished size is 2 1/2"

I'm starting with a 3 1/2" square which will give me a 2 1/2" finished size. The rule of thumb is to add 7/8" to your finished size, I round it up to an 1".  So if you want a 3" finished size cut a 3 7/8"  square or in my case a 4" square.

First I cut my squares to 3 1/2 inches.

Then on the light squares I draw a diagonal line.

Then put your two pieces of fabric right sides together.
Then I sew a 1/4" on each side of the line.

Then cut on the diagonal line.

Iron the seam over to the dark side or you can iron the seam open.

Then I trim my block to 2 1/2" or whatever you desired size.

That's it very simple - then layout as desired.

Here's a link to different layout options. (Scroll to the bottom of the page.)
Plus other great craft ideas like pillows, aprons, etc.

Check back in a couple of days -
I'm going to have something special to show you -
can't wait to receive it in the mail!

You'll have a chance to get this item next!

Yesterday I went to the bookstore with my daughter
and I picked up the lasted edition of Quiltmaker magazine.

They had this cool skateboard quilt designed by Denise Starck.

I thought of my fellow Stash Bee Hive #4, Angie.
I thought what a great quilt it would be to make for Project Linus.
I want to thank Angie, it has been a while since I donated a quilt to this wonderful project and I know they are always looking for quilts/blankets for older kids.

So here are a couple of skateboards I made this morning.  Can't wait to make some more.

My girls had their first babysitting job over school vacation.
Kathryn bought herself these cool sneakers.
She looked on-line on different ways to lace your sneakers - pretty cool!

Sewing Sunday - not...

Well I had good intention to get some sewing done today - but life had other plans.
So lets go with the flow - I did get a top finished this week.

I love birdhouses,
here are a few I have around the yard.

Happy Sunday!

Sparkling stars....

Made some progress on my Sparkly Star quilt, I'm liking the layout.
Ran out of some fabrics so had to make some centers a different color, but I'm liking it!

Check out Oh, Fransson's blog for a tutorial.

Beautiful spring day here in Northern New England!
The crocus are blooming and the Daffodils and Tulips are not far behind.
It's the beginning of school vacation today - the kids have 10 days off - oh joy!

Classroom pet..

My girl's science teacher has a classroom pet, Fredrick the Turtle.
We volunteered to take care of him over April vacation.
I picked him up last night with is travel tank.

What are you looking at ??

I have to say he's an easy pet to care for.

Well I'm off to finish up my siggy blocks for Hive #2 and #4.
I'll get them mailed out tomorrow.

House block...

So Stephanie requested a house block for her block. Stash Bee Hive #2
I knew what I wanted to do with the sky and grass - she choose 3 colors for each.
The house was more challenging for me -
making a house for someone else is very difficult.

Well I hope she likes it this is what I have so far and I still might add to it.

Have a good evening,
