Dock Dogs..

This past weekend Dock Dogs was in our area, we've gone the last couple of years and watch the competition.  This year we decided to enter our dog Zeva, she loves the water.  Only one problem she's never jumped into the water but we figured why not give it a shot.   Hubby took her over to the open practice from 9 to 10am.  He got her to jump in the water on the first try - we were so excited!  So I got the kids and their friend ready, the night before we had a sleepover out in the tent - late night!  Anyways so I go over with the girls and wait for Zeva to have her turn in the competion - we don't care about how far she jumps - we're just doing it for fun.  So she's number 9 in the first group.

Here she is after the open practice.

Here we go...

Ready???

I'm not going in there again...

Okay let's try again, we get two attempts.

Ready - you can do it!

Wooh, I'm not going in there!  Fun was had by all!

My Primrose are in bloom, they're so pretty.

I'm working on finishing up the wonky star quilt - need to finish quilting it this weekend!  I started quilting last weekend, but then realized that the back got all bunched up and it looked terrible - so I'm taking it out and re-doing it.

Also working on the back for my tumbler quilt - taking the left over pieces and making them into a scrappy slice and dice back - photos to come soon.

Tumbler quilt continued..

Tumbler quilt top is completed!

It's been in the high 80's low 90's with high humidity the last two days which is really hot for us! So today I took the girls and a couple of friends to hang out at the mall and play at Summit Adventures - which offers laser tag, glow in the dark mini golf, and all kinds of other cool stuff.  So I dropped them off and I went shopping for myself and then met back up with them for lunch.  I even played a little laser tag, fun was had by all and we beat the heat!

What to you do to beat the heat??

Thanks for stopping by,
Lynn

Late night....

I've had some fabrics picked out for a while sitting on my cutting table.  But I had another quilt I need to finish before I could move onto something new.  I have to say It's all pinned and ready to be quilted.  I still have a couple of weeks before my deadline!  So I'm good!

So I couldn't sleep last night so I started about 10PM and went to bed at 1:30AM.  But look what I got done, I cut out all the pieces and laid out the quilt top!  I'm a little tired this morning but it felt so great to get this far!  I wanted to make a quilt that was quick and easy and I could use up some of my fabrics from my stash.

I decided on a tumbler quilt, I saw this really cute one over at Saltwater Quilts and thought it would be a fun easy quilt to make.

I took a 5" piece of cardboard to make my template,
marking 1" in for the side on the top.

The top of the tumbler is 3" and the bottom is 5".

Then I cut strips of fabric 5" wide and started cutting.
I cut multiple strips at once, between 4 and 6 layers.

I found it easier to use a ruler with my cardboard temple,
that way I didn't cut into the cardboard.

One Tumbler block!

Here's a whole bunch of them laid out.
I will stack them in rows and number them.
 Then sew the rows together.
More to come later.

While I was sitting her typing this at the kitchen table I looked up to see I had a visiter...

Happy Fathers Day!
Enjoy your day everyone and thank you for stopping by!

WIP...

I saw a funny commercial last night, It was an ad for oatmeal at a fast food chain.
The older women looks over at the younger women and says " In my day Oatmeal was just oats and water and not all that fancy stuff (fancy stuff being fruit and nuts)."
She reaches for her camera phone, and says "I need to take a photo of this so I can write about it on my blog!"

Here are my blocks I've received so far from the Stash Bee Hive #4.
Loving the blocks!

Here's the quilt I'm working on as a gift - the photo is terrible!
Not feeling the center square - but loving the wonky stars and confetti strips!

So I think I'm going to play around with some more wonky stars in a variety of sizes
and throw some confetti blocks in the mix.
