Tone on Tone..

I've been playing around with a tone on tone quilt.  Well this is what I came up with, what do you think?  I plan on making it a wall hanging, I'm thinking of attaching it to a canvas frame after I quilt the top.

The blocks are 7".  I got the idea for the blocks from Film in the Fridge
I made a couple like she did in her tutorial but I wanted more variation in my blocks,
so I made the rest of them quarter blocks.

Have a wonderful day,

Summer is winding down..

Hello everyone, things have been slow around here due to a lack of motivation on my part.  I learned a few weeks ago that I'm going to need surgery for my lower back.  So I've been busy getting caught up on housework and other stuff that I won't be able to do for awhile.  My hope is that I will be pain free. :-)

I did get my blocks finished for August Stash Bee.

For Hive #4 over at Stash bee I finished Ambers block:

For Hive #2 for Rachel, these were quick and easy paper pieced blocks.
You can find more info at Fresh Lemon Quilts.

I've been working on some granny squares - I love the colors.

Have a good evening,

Happy 13th Birthday..

My babies turned 13 this past Friday.  I can't believe they're 13 already I have no idea where the time has gone.  My poor husband has no idea what he's in for! LOL

We always spend the day together as a family, this year since their birthday fell on a Friday we decided to go camping for the weekend at Cupsuptic Lake and Camping.  We had a great time, the weather could have been better - we only had one day that it didn't rain.  At least we got one night that we could sit around the fire!
We played a lot of Princess Uno, only Uno game we had in our camping gear!
A lot of laughs were had by all!

My husband has this hat he wears to protect his head from the sun and the girls are always teasing him about it so guess what he got them for their birthday??

Yes that's a pay phone - cell phone service was sketchy!

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Evolution of Quilting...

I was catching up on some blog reading last night and came a crossed this blog on the quilting evolution, over at Sometimes Crafter I found it very interesting and you might too.

I started out as a traditional quilter, matching all my seams and points and modern quilting threw me for a loop.  The thought of cutting or sewing fabric without measuring or not taking an exact 1/4" seam just didn't feel right.  But at the same time I was not quite a traditional quilter - I never put borders on my quilts and I've always made the back look as nice as the front.  I've alway believed that a quilt should be used, it's a gift to love, it's like being wrapped up in a hug.

Love to hear your thoughts.

Please enjoy the photos from my garden and of my daughter trying to get Little B (one of our chickens) to eat blueberries from her hand.

Love the expression!!
Guess what the chicken did afterward??

Have a wonderful day,

Every moment you get is a gift. Spend it on things that matter.
