Blog anniversary and a giveaway...

Good Morning,

Well here in New England, March came in like a lamb. Lets see if it goes out like a lion??
First a finish, I finished my Scattered Boxes quilt.  One of my daughters claimed it before it was even finished, LOL.  She was so excited when I finished it up yesterday, alone with the fact the Twilight, Breaking Dawn Part 2 came out on DVD.  She was cuddled up on the couch watching Twilight with her new quilt!

Last night was a late night, after we finished Twilight, I couldn't sleep because I had this thought for a quilt in my head.  Earlier I had come across all these 1/2 square triangles in my scrap bin and I've been wanting to make a Churn Dish block, bonus all the half square triangle units were done!  My blocks will end up 6" finished.

So I did a little drawing and came up with this.
We'll see if it this how it ends up in the end?

And this is what happens when you're piecing at 1AM.

Don't worry here comes the good part, it's my blog anniversary!!
Yeah me - it has been fun sharing with everyone, thank you for following me!

I have 5 fat quarters of Curio by Basic Gray.  Please be a follower of my blog.
I will pick a random winner on Thursday Night, March 7th, 2013.

In your comments I'm curious to know if you sew barefooted?  I do, it seems when I sew with shoes on my peddle keeps slipping further away from me.  But when I sew barefooted or with socks on I can wrap my toes over the top edge and keep my peddle in place.  Am I the only one that does this??  I've tried everything to prevent my peddle from slipping and this is what works for me!

  1. I was thinking about this too, yesterday, I sew barefoot also and we have tile floors so it gets cold cold cold on my little heels and then my kids do something and I have to get up with out a shoe on and my foot gets even colder, brrr. But I just can't sew with shoes or socks.

  2. Yes, I sew barefooted. Matter of fact, I seldom wear shoes if I'm in the house. I live in KY so I guess it's appropriate, given the stereotypes about this backwoods state! But I'm pretty sure I was this way while growing up in PA. I follow your blog, congrats on the anniversary!

  3. I had never really thought about it until you mentioned it! I am a barefoot sewist! I also sew in my socks. Can't remember ever sewing with a shoe on but that is probably because I don't wear shoes in the house. I am a follower and thank you for the chance at the giveaway!

  4. I sew in flip-flops or shoes; our floors are too slippery to just wear socks around! I have a little rubber non-skid mat (cut from a bigger one) under every sewing machine foot pedal, though (keeps it from slipping). :)

  8. I am always so happy if I am not the only one who stops thinking when sewing. Hope there were not to many seams to be ripped.

At the moment I love my shoes when sewing. Otherwise my feet will be frozen and I am not able to press the foot. the carpet somehow holds the foot in place and it is not slipping away.

    Happy Blogerversary!

  13. i have only sewn barefoot. i never thought much of it, until just now. i like the feel of the pedal under my toes. plus if i could live my life barefoot i probably would as i really hate trying to find shoes that fit my feet!

  14. I would have grabbed that quilt too, lovely. I sew in my slippers or if in a class some soft souled shoes/boots. But have been thinking about this as the peddel does walk away.
