Quilt Show 2013....

I finished my Wristlet just in time to use it at the State Quilt Show.  I'm very pleased with how it came out.  I used invisible zippers, added a tab on both ends of the top zipper and added an inside pocket.
This was the third wristlet I've made and I had this one all sewn together and was trying out the zippers.  I opened the outside zipper and to my horror realized I forgot the pocket lining.  Ugh........

Enjoy the photos from the quilt show.  I apologize in advance for the photos, lots of people.

Good Evening,
You've always had the power my dear,
you just had to learn it for yourself.

Wristlets anyone....

I've realized I've become one of these women
you know the ones you see carrying around their phone and their keys in their hands..

At games, I noticed most women have their phones and keys sitting beside them on the bleachers?  Why?  So I've been looking for the perfect wristlet to make for myself and my girls so we can keep our phone, etc. and just grab and go.

Since I'm new to the whole purse/wristlet/bag making thing and I didn't have the time or the inclination to try and figure out how to make one I just did an internet/Pinterest search.

I came across this wristlet

Wristlet number one.
This is the small wristlet with the outside pocket. (6.5" x 4")

I have to admit I got a little frustrated while making it.
The instructions are very detailed and excellent!  It was just my own confusion!
I don't like working with zippers and the little details on small things.
Hence why I make quilts, no putting in zippers or pockets.
Overall I was happy with the first one but made a few changes on the second one.

I'm not happy with how the top zipper came out.
And I like look of the invisible zipper vs the regular zipper.

And inside are Penguins!

Wristlet number Two (Finished Size 7" x 4.5")

I added a tab to both ends of the zipper and used an invisible zipper.
Looks much better!

I had intended to have an outside pocket on this one also but I made a silly mistake.  I had the pocket all made and was zig-zaging the ends so the zipper pull won't fall off and guess what I did?  Yep, I caught the zipper pull and pulled it right off the end and there was no fixing it after that.  And of course I did not have another zipper on hand.  So I made an inside pocket.

Now I need to make myself one.  I'm going to make the one with the zipper pocket on the outside and a pocket on the inside, I know wild and crazy!  The outside pocket will be for the car keys, and inside i'll put my iPhone and the pocket inside for holding some cash and cards.

Thanks for stopping by,

2013 Q3 Finish-A-long...

I'm joining up with Leanne over at She can Quilt for the 2013 Q3 Finish-A-long, maybe just maybe I might get some of the these projects complete.

she can quilt

Up first I have my PB&J Quilt, it just needs to be quilted and bound.

Second, my log cabin star quilt, it's quilted and just needs a binding.

Third, I have my mosaic quilt, not sure if I'm going to call it done and just back it, and quilt it.  Or whether to add on to it, it's kinda of small.

Fourth I have my plus and X Quilt top.. Needs backing, and quilting.

Wish me luck, lately it's been too hot mid 80's and 95% humidity. The thought of quilting and having all those layers on my lap in this humidity - well it would just push me over the edge - the humidity makes me cranky!

Enjoy your day,

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
